Community Involvement
One of the great things about being a small business in Maine is being involved with our community! We have partnered with many local charities, including our biggest community project, which was donating a full commercial kitchen to House in the Woods’ Veterans’ Retreat.
We are active members of the Bangor, Ellsworth, and Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce. Collaborating with our community friends, we encourage locally-owned businesses throughout our state while having a lot of fun. We must work together to support each other.
Speaking of fun, we are the five-time champions of the Bar Harbor Bed Race! Being involved with the Bar Harbor and Ellsworth Chamber has truly been a joy. Maine is a small, friendly state.
Many people admire our urban vegetable garden at R.M. Flagg Restaurant Supply. The Veazie Garden Club awarded us their Community Beautification Award for our gardening efforts. Owner Stacey Guerin, a Penobscot County Master Gardener, enjoys sharing her knowledge of gardening in an urban setting. She literally transformed a 3 X 100-foot strip of dirt in front of our building into a beautiful garden full of interesting heirloom tomatoes, unique vegetables, and a sprinkling of her grandmother’s favorite heritage flowers.
